I was browsing blogs, as I'm wont to do, and I came across this post:

i wish people would learn to punctuate, learn the difference between there, they're, and their, learn the difference between to and too, learn how to use apostrophe's (geddit?), and learn the syntactic and semantic roles of commas.

there's a difference between the use of unstandard english (like ain't) and the announcement to all readers that you - the speaker, the writer - never paid attention in grade five when you were being taught basic english syntax.

i should write a letter to the education minister. their is no good reason teacher's cannot teach literature and grammar to, alot of student's just do not understand it.

I was going to comment and say something, but I didn't want to come across as rude, so here it is. If you're whining about other people's grammar, then freaking make sure yours is correct! In those last two sentences alone, there are eight mistakes that I noted. I found it especially rich that in the first sentence the writer says "learn the difference between there, they're, and their" and complains about apostrophes when in the last sentence s/he uses both of those things wrong, as well as writing with really crappy sentence format and style. It annoys me when people are hypocritical. Unless maybe that post, or at least the last sentence, was meant to be a joke? Dare we hope?

I'm listening to: nothing, as I don't want disrupt my father's sound slumber. As I slept for 12 hours today (Woot! Go me!), I'm not tired. Earlier, I was listening to the CD Maraia burnt me, Blind Melon. Quite good! ~me~ at 10:38 PM
