TROY

Okay, it came out on friday, it's a three hour movie, and I've seen it twice so far. It was incredible! I just loved it! And it had nothing to do with Orlando Bloom and Brad Pitt, really! Okay, so maybe a little bit (Brad Pitt especially was gorgeous! *drooool*), but it would be an awesome movie even if the actors weren't so very pretty. The trouble I had with it, and also a big part of what made it so good was the fact that I didn't really know which side to root for, the Greeks or the Trojans. It wasn't like LotR, where there is the Good side and the Evil side. I liked and disliked individuals on both sides, and I didn't want either side to loose. I cried when (SPOILER! Highlight to see) Achilles died. And when Hector died. I cried both for them and for the women they left behind. I was so angry that Priam died, he was the best. The scene when he comes to ask Achilles for Hector's body back was incredible. And Patriclis (sp?)! Oh, I cried then! I really liked him! Other good scenes -- the fight between Hector and Achilles was amazing! I like just about every scene with Achilles, to tell the truth. I can really go for the brooding warrior type. Sean Bean did an excellent job as Odysseus, of which I was glad, consider that his wife is my namesake. He looked a lot better than he did as Boromir. Eric Bana was better as Hector than as Hulk, in my opinion. He was great. I really think Peter O'Toole (Priam) was good too. I didn't think the soundtrack was as bad as everyone has been saying. It wasn't the best soundtrack in the world, but it wasn't the worst, either. Also, there wasn't as many cheesy lines as I'd heard there were going to be. There were a few:

Paris: The gods will curse us, men will hunt us, but I will love you. Until the day they burn my body, I will love you

Brisius: I've known men like you all my life.
Achilles: No you haven't.

Helen: You shouldn't be here.
Paris: That's what you said last night.
Helen: Last night was a mistake.
Paris: And the night before?
Helen: I've made a lot of mistakes this week.

but overall, not too bad. If you want my advice, go see it! It's worth it. Great job by the entire cast.
