My brother has horrid taste in music. I've always known that. He likes just plain vile music. But the song I heard him listening to this evening took the cake. It was titled B#####. I'll post some of the lyrics in an edited version, because it's incredibly foul-mouthed:

[Chorus]
Yeah i'm talkin to you B#### (get up and dance b####)
Wiggle that a## B#### (yeah thats it. yeah i called you a b####)
What you going to do about it B####?
Sit there and cry like a little B####? B####.
...
you look at me before you answer the phone
When i flee, your a## can get as naked and be as free
As you wanna be freak
But i'm takin the key with me.
You aint gonna get s###, so dont even ask
Disrespect my wishes, i'll beat your a##
...
H# aint the only thing you call a girl
Sl##, Tramp, (girl: oh, how you doin sir?)
Ever since i was 8, i been startin to hate
I said f### the H#'s, started eatin cheese cake

And it goes on like that. In my last post, I talked about insulting people, but this, this just hurts. Why...why do people even SAY things like this, let alone make it into a song for others to listen to and sing along with? The message of it offends me so much more than simply the foul language. I haven't decided what side I'm on on the video games=killers, foul-music=gangstas, but I know at the very core of me that that kind of music is good for no one. I don't know if it will make any guys go out and start treating girls disrespectfully, but just the song itself hurts me. It hurts that people would say things like that. It hurts that my brother would smile at me when I asked him to change it. It hurts that my brother, my brother, would even listen to such a song. And I did ask him to change it. And I almost never mess with his music, unless it's loud and I'm trying to rest. I've heard many foul language'd/just plain nasty songs coming out of his speakers, but that one I simply couldn't abide. I don't mind an occasional curse in my music or a random reference to sex. I can listen to Indigo Girl's Become You, or DashCon's Hands Down, or Pink Floyd's Money without running from the room. But that song made me feel sick. It offended me like I've never been offended by a song before. It saddens me that some people would CHOOSE to listen to it. I can't understand people.

I'm listening to: Year of the Rat, Badly Drawn Boy ~me~ at 9:20 PM
